The state of Wyoming has a split personality, with open prairies and grasslands on the eastern side, and its share of the Rocky Mountains and Continental Divide meandering through the west. Settlers had a hard life here, and their famous historic figures of outlaws and hard-working cowboys reflect the harsh conditions. Remnants of this past are still visible throughout Wyoming, making for popular sightseeing attractions. However, even more visitors come to immerse themselves in the open wilderness that unfolds through most of the state, untouched by skyscrapers and suburban sprawls.
